“April 18.”
Those were the first words out of his mouth, as I happened across him on the trail. Didn’t even lift his head as he trudged through another frigid puddle.
When I prodded him to expound, he started ranting about how nobody should be planning events in February, clearly bothered by the 2026 edition of the Barkley Marathons, which happened in February this year.
“Who wants to run around in February? Everyone’s still in a Christmas Cookie Coma. Terrible month for running.”
If he hadn’t been to firmly on his soapbox, I’d have mentioned my own February adventures, but decided to leave it be.
“Nah, April’s better. More puddles.”
And that was it. He turned away, conversation over before I could ask details or offer protest.
If you’d like to join in the misery, you should sign up. I have a hunch Klaaz is sick of last year’s maps and has some new ideas up his sleeve…
