A Beautiful Hope

Against All Hope was released last year by Art&Justice League. This 20-minute documentary highlights the struggles faced by the Karen people of Burma for many years at the hands of the military regime. It’s a beautifully-shot video, well worth a watch:

Tomorrow I’ll be showing this video to a group of high school students. As I watched it again last week, I was really impacted, not only by the stories of violence, forced labour, and other injustices, but by the steadfast hope that the Karen people hang on to in the midst of it. They call their homeland the “land with no evil”, and hope for the day when Christ will rescue them and make it so. This resonated inside of me, and inspired me to hope along with them for the restoration of their land.
