Give: Simon Sinek on the Good Life Project

The Good Life Project is a weekly web show hosted by Jonathan Fields that features interviews with amazing people who ask the question, What does it look like to live “the good life”? The interviews are long (40-60 minutes), which are a departure from the short snippets that we’re accustomed to digesting online. Fields is a thoughtful, empathetic interviewer that is great at drawing out people’s stories.

A couple weeks ago Fields interviewed Simon Sinek. Sinek tells moving stories about the importance of serving others and creating a culture of service in any organization. Great insights for leaders and communicators. The interview jumps right into the good stuff, check it out here or below.

A couple quotes that stuck out to me:

  • “I don’t have all the answers, and I don’t need to pretend that I do.”
  • “If you speak like a scientist, only scientists will be able to understand you. But if you speak like a truck driver, both truck drivers and scientists will be able to understand you.”
  • “In the presenting of ideas or of anything, the fundamental thing you need to have is the attitude of giving.”
  • “Great leaders see money as fuel, not a destination.”
  • “The most fulfilling thing you can do is serve those who serve others.”
