Barkman Marathons

If the ultrarunning world’s annual obsession with the Barkley Marathons shows us anything, it’s that people love running around with their friends while looking for books.

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, in the spirit of Barkley, a new comunity- and book-loving event is being hosted in the most unlikely of locations, Steinbach MB. Organized by the in-famous (or is that un-famous?) run organizer, Klaaz, who’s Mennonite-game-champion great aunt can show you just how he’s related to the (truly) famous Laz, the Barkman Marathons will provide a pint-sized taste of the Barkley experience.

In town.

(But don’t assume this means you’ll avoid briars. But you can probably safely assume you can mostly avoid elevation.)

Details (and lack thereof) can be found on the event page here.

You can and should register early to avoid the relief of missing out on this communal experience of type 2 fun. Space is limited. Reserving your spot is free, but do not show up empty-handed. Details of cost of admission are on the event page.

Which is here.

Note: If you’re unfamiliar with the Barkley Marathons, you can watch some documentaries about the original event here or here. Study up.
